Today,17th September 2010, I took my first Catechism class as a trainee catechist. It was a wonderful experience simply because it has been a long while since I was knee deep in kids. They are both boys and girls in the class and are around 9 years of age. They are being prepared to receive the Sacrament of Holy Communion sometime next year. They come in different sizes and each one has their own signature imprint. It made me feel young to be around them.
I have no formal teaching experience and thankfully I am not alone. I am training under the able Mrs. L. a catechist with many years of teaching under her belt.
My prayer is that together we will be able to prepare 40 young boys and girls for a personal encounter with Jesus Christ when they receive Him for very first time in this most beautiful of Sacraments.
