DAY ONE, TALK TWO - ABRAHAM - THE FATHER OF FAITH

BR.BOBBY QUITAIN

BREAKTHROUGH MOMENTS

God comes in ways we do not expect and our faith could either expand or deflate.   If we use faith well it will deepen and it will take us to the next level.

There are 5 breakthrough moments of faith.

1)    UNPREDICTABILITY OF LIFE

GENESIS 12:1, 4
Yahweh said to Abram, “Leave your country, your family and your father’s house, for the land I will show you.So Abram went as Yahweh had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

Abraham was 75 years old when God asked him to move He has a blessing prepared for you.  So OBEY and you will receive blessing upon blessing.  God honors our obedience.

While God's ways are unpredictable, our faith tells us that God's character is not.

2)  WHEN YOU ADMIT THE LIMITATIONS OF YOUR HUMANITY.

GEN 17:17-19, 21:1-2, 5-6
17 Then Abraham fell face down, and he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? And can Sarah who is ninety have a child?” 18 And Abraham said to God, “If only you would accept Ishmael as yours!” 19 But God said, “Not at all! It is Sarah, your wife, who will give birth to your son and you will name him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him and his descendants after him forever.

1 Yahweh was kind to Sarah as he had said, and fulfilled his promise to her.Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the very time Yahweh had promised. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter and everyone who hears of this

Abraham fell face down and laughed. What is impossible for man is not impossible for God. When you come face to face with your limitations the level of your faith will determine whether your faith will be bound by it or be boosted by it.  Our limitations can be a stepping-stone for God to make something beautiful of our lives.  God does not believe in dead-ends, He turns them to doorways.

3)WHEN YOU ACCEPT THE UNFATHOMABLE WISDOM OF GOD

GENESIS 22:1-3
Some time later God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he answered, “Here I am.” Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I shall point out to you.”
Abraham rose early next morning and saddled his donkey and took with him two of his young men and his son Isaac. He chopped wood for the burnt offering and set out for the place to which God had directed him.

God tested Abraham and Abraham did what God told him to do.  God asked Abraham to sacrifice not just his son but his ONLY SON.

You can go to the next level of faith if you do what God desires you to do even if you do not understand. God does not owe us an explanation. God's ways are not our ways but we trust Him anyway. When God call you your response must be, "Here I am." You have to endure even if you do not understand. Hold on to the Lord even if you do not understand. Faith tells us to hold on to the Lord even if we do not understand.  We are called to hang on to God and when we finally accept that God's ways are beyond us, our faith will then summon the power within  us.

4)WHEN YOU DECIDE TO TRUST WITHOUT SEEING

Just because we cannot see something does not mean it is not real.

GENESIS 22: 6- 8
Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He carried in his hand the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke to Abraham, his father, “Father!” And Abraham replied, “Yes, my son?” Isaac said, “The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the sacrifice?” Abraham replied, “God himself will provide the lamb for the sacrifice.”

God is real even if we do not see Him.

Abraham did not see the lamb but he told his son that God would provide the lamb for the sacrifice.  God is arranging events so that we will get to heaven.  His love is never beyond our sins.  When you first trust without seeing, faith will enable you to see.

5) WHEN YOU RECEIVE VINDICATION FOR YOUR FAITH

Our faith is never in vain.  God always wins for us

GENESIS 22:9-13
until they came to the place to which God had directed them. When Abraham had built the altar and set the wood on it, he bound his son Isaac and laid him on the wood placed on the altar. 10 He then stretched out his hand to seize the knife and slay his son. 11 But the Angel of Yahweh called to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”
And he said, “Here I am.” 12 “Do not lay your hand on the boy; do not harm him, for now I know that you fear God, and you have not held back from me your only son.”
13 Abraham looked around and saw behind him a ram caught by its horns in a bush. He offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.

God did provide. His faith in God was vindicated. We ought never to hold back in our faith but go out 100% and we will discover that our faith has not been in vain.  We can never outdo God in generosity. When you give to God He will give back to you a hundredfold.
