To each is given a cross.
You have a choice to either carry it or throw it down and walk away. You can carry it cheerfully or grudgingly.
You can complain every step of the way
and allow it to bear you down or to lift you up.
As its weight chafes your shoulder and doubles your back
and the sweat on your brow blinds and stings your eyes
do you grow discouraged and increasingly bitter,
or do you see Me bearing the cross with you.
There is no crown without the cross.
You have to pick up your cross everyday and follow Me.
