MATTHEW 13:44-46

44 The kingdom of heaven is like a hidden treasure in a field. The person who finds it buries it again, and so happy is he that he sells everything he has to buy that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a trader searching for fine pearls.

46 Once he finds a pearl of exceptional quality, he leaves, sells everything he has, and buys it.

Where your heart is, there your treasure will be. Where is your treasure? Who is your treasure? How valuable do you consider this treasure? Are you prepared to give up the whole world and everything in it to acquire it and keep it?

Or do you already possess this treasure now? You know its value, yet you are not truly committed to counting all as loss so you can purchase it and hold fast to it. Is concupiscence still ruling your life, preventing you from emptying yourself and giving up everything for the sake of this treasure? Are you afraid to let go because you are still clinging to the things of the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life?

Are you truly willing to sacrifice eternity and the eternal bliss of beholding the beatific vision in perfect happiness for a mere bowl of lentils, like Esau who sold his birthright to satisfy his physical hunger pangs?

Think about these things, ---- mine. Ponder them deeply and ask yourself honestly: Do you have the courage that faith demands, or do you merely like to imagine and daydream about beautiful, holy, eternal realities while remaining unwilling to sacrifice the visible things of this world and the desires of the flesh for the spiritual and supernatural gifts that could be yours? 

Ask, and you shall receive. Acknowledge your weaknesses, beg for the graces you need, and believe that you have already received all you have asked for in faith. Take that first step: disentangle yourself from the cords that bind you to the fleshpots of Egypt and the desire for the pods fed to swine. Return to the Father’s house, claim your inheritance, receive the sandals on your feet, the beautiful robe of righteousness, and take your place at the table with the Bridegroom where a feast has been prepared for you. Come and feast at the table of the Lord.

Choose now. Choose well. Choose rightly. For what you choose will determine your place in the Kingdom of Heaven.
