WORD OF GOD - LK 6:22-23

LUKE 6:22-23

‘Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice on that day and leap for joy, for surely your reward is great in heaven; for that is what their ancestors did to the prophets
.

---- mine,

No one likes to be excluded, to be ignored, to be thought of as being less than their worth. No one likes to be looked down on because they speak a different language, practice a different faith, or because they do not have the right credentials to belong, fit in, to be considered acceptable. This is especially true of Christians and even more true of Catholic Christians. What should your response be to those whose colossal ignorance of Truth causes them to spew venom, make derogatory remarks, and condemn you as idolators and worse? Keep your gaze on Me crucified and you will receive all the strength you need to withstand the cruelty of the ignorant and to pray with Me the prayer I prayed to My Father. 'Forgive them, they know not what they do.'  And you will receive My peace that surpasses human understanding will be yours.
